Preserve it: don't overcoat it
The most common mistake we're called in to correct on Canberra's heritage roofs is over-coating beautiful original terracotta with a paint that hides its character and can trap moisture underneath. Genuine heritage terracotta doesn't want a coating. It cleans up, repoints and re-beds to look and perform superbly as itself. We work sympathetically with these homes: matching tiles where we can, rebedding ridges in the original profile, and renewing flashings, so the roof keeps the character that gives the home its value.
